The "Mower" The Merrier !

Bosch Rotak 37 Ergoflex Electric Rotary Lawnmower

As far as I was concerned my knowledge of Lawn Mowers stretched to the old push-pull hand mower that my dad used to cut the grass with! It was only when I decided to buy one to cut my own lawn that I found out the enormous range of models available. Now you don't even need to plug your mower into an electric socket!!
So forget the cord/cordless debate and lets discover the different cutting systems available.
With a cylinder mower (sometimes called a Reel Mower) there's normally up to 12 blades (at the front) that spin trapping the grass then cutting it with a scissor action against a fixed plate underneath. A removable grass box is located at the front. Some have fewer blades but generally if there are more blades then that will mean a better cut.The only downside I found is regarding trying to cut long grass,it just doesn't happen! To sum up: this type of mower is best suited to a lawn that is cut often at least once or twice a week to ensure the grass is not too long for the mower to prove effective.Another mower worth considering is the Rotary Mower. This mower has just one blade that spins at a very high speed .The majority have boxes to collect the grass at the back ,although some have an integral one. Finally there are Hover Mowers .As the name implies they float above the grass so have no wheels. But work similar to a rotary mower.
Throw into the mix Ride On Mowers,Tractor Mowers and the old standby Hand Mowers and you can see why choosing which mower to buy in 2015 can be a time consuming task.
Hopefully after reading about the different types and models on here (Which ,by the way, is far from exhaustive) it may help your decision.

As I said There Are Hundreds To Choose From .Below Is A Selection Of Some Lesser Known Models.
